Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 16 April 2026.
Our Commitment
Cold Case Club aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA across our website and emails. We believe a good mystery should be solvable by anyone who wants to try.
What We Do
- Semantic HTML and ARIA labels on all interactive elements.
- Keyboard navigation works across the entire site (Tab, Enter, Escape).
- All interactive animations respect the
prefers-reduced-motion setting: boot intro, scroll-linked animations, cursor trails, and flashlight effects all degrade to instant states for users who prefer reduced motion.
- Colour contrast tested against WCAG AA minimums (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text).
- Background music plays only on explicit user request and can be muted from a visible, keyboard-focusable button.
- Alt text on all meaningful images. Decorative images are marked
aria-hidden="true".
Known Limitations
Areas we are actively improving:
- Scroll-linked video frame sequences have a static-image fallback on mobile but are still visually-driven on desktop; we are exploring a text summary alternative.
- The cipher puzzle in the First Clue briefing is visual; we are preparing a plain-text companion document that subscribers can request.
- Evidence packets themselves are physical documents. We can provide large-print typewritten transcripts of any packet on request.
Assistive Technology
The site is tested with recent versions of: NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, TalkBack on Android, and the built-in screen readers of Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.
Need an Accessible Alternative?
If any part of the Service is not accessible to you — or you'd like packets in large print or with text transcripts — email hello@coldcaseclub.store. We will provide an accommodation within 5 business days at no additional cost.
Standards and Law
We take guidance from:
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 Level AA (W3C).
- Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Australia).
- Americans with Disabilities Act (USA).
- European Accessibility Act 2025 (EU).
- Equality Act 2010 (UK).
Feedback
If you encounter an accessibility barrier, tell us at hello@coldcaseclub.store. Include the page URL, what you were trying to do, and what your assistive technology reported. We treat accessibility fixes as priority bug reports.
